Best Jailbreak Tweaks Ever For Your Newly Jailbroken iPhone 4S

The Absinthe jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 is now officially out. Now you’ve jailbroken your device, you’ll of course need to download some jailbreak tweak from Cydia that are useful for your device. In this post, we’re showing the best and most important jailbreak tweaks you’ll ever need for your new device.

SBSettings

Almost all of you know know this Cydia app! SBSettings is my #1 jailbreak tweak. Once I jailbreak my device, I immediately download and install SBSettings on my new device. It adds options to turn on/off 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi and even more functions. Just open Cydia then download it to see yourself.

iFile

That one is very important too. iFile makes the folders on your iPhone visible. It’s like the Founder of your iPhone. You can use it for several functions. You can see all your folders, compressed files, bookmark folders and more.

Celeste

Since the iPhone and all Apple devices don’t support bluetooth file transfer with other devices, Celeste brings this function to you. For $9.99 from Cydia Store, you’ll be able to transfer files with all other devices than Apple like Nokia, Samsung and even various laptop kinds.

Springtomize 2

This tweak get the most out of iOS 5. If you’re using a new iPhone 4S, you’ll surely need a tweak like this. With Springtomize 2, you can customize almost every aspect of your iOS device. For $2.99 only, Springtomize 2 saves you about $20 on Cydia tweaks that are integrated into it. Hit this post for a video walkthrough.

IntelliScreenX

This tweak makes me want to jailbreak anything in my hand! IntelliScreenX, a tweak developed by IntelliBorn team, is a must have jailbreak tweak which makes iOS 5 notification center in the right way. Available for $9.99, it adds a lot of functions to your notification center. A video walkthrough posted here.

CallBar

CallBar is a jailbreak tweak developed by the iPhone developer Limneos that allows you to improve the way you receive phone calls. CallBar re-designs the incoming phone and video call interface to allow you to use your device while it’s ringing and during the call. It costs $3.99. More coverage and video posted here.

Activator

When you jailbreak your iPhone, Activator comes with it. It allows you to activate anything from any place on your iPhone. It’s a free Cydia tweak and is pre-installed with the jailbreak. SBSettings uses Activator to be activated when swiping the status bar.

WinterBoard and DreamBoard

Those two jailbreak tweaks allows you to theme your iPhone and customize the interface. With Winterboard, you can get a lot of themes that can be found easily on Cydia. DreamBoard contains more stable and amazing themes like OS X Ultimatum and BlackBerry theme. Make sure to get them.

InfiniDock and OverFlow

Once installed both tweaks, I’m sure you’ll have then the best iPhone dock ever. InfiniDocks allows you to add multiple icons to your dock and it lets you scroll through them as you would pages on your springboard. While OverFlow gives your dock an awesome “Cover Flow” style. Check this post for more info about them.

How to jailbreak A5

Corona A5 Jailbreak For iPhone 4S & iPad 2 Nearly Ready For Public Use, Here’s Everything You Need To Know

We have waited nearly three months in total, and A5 owners have had to sit in envy for nearly four weeks as they watch their A4 device friends enjoy an untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak, but the wait is nearly over. The release of the Corona A5 jailbreak is close and I can almost taste its liberating goodness.
Chronic Dev Team member, P0sixninja put out a typical teasing tweet announcing ‘not much longer now’ to the community, which had us wondering whether the release would possibly be this Sunday, or maybe even sooner. The tweet has since been followed up by legendary iPhone Dev Team member, MuscleNerd, with a link to the official blog post with quite an informative A5 Corona update.
He is right in what he says, the eyes of the community have been firmly fixed upon the development teams and although they produced the A4 jailbreak, it probably only attracted more attention towards them from iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners who felt a little aggrieved about their lack of device freedom. The combined efforts of French security researcher, Pod2g, and the individual members of both major development teams, the A5 version of the Corona jailbreak is tantalizingly close to a public release.
One of the most encouraging parts of the update, is the confirmation that all of the major technical hurdles have been overcome. You may remember that the production of the jailbreak led to caching issues, as well as finding a usable way to inject the untether files without the need for an official developer account, and also the Apple sandbox issues which were overcome by PlanetBeing and Cydia founder Saurik. The only real issue that they face now is packaging all of the jailbreak files into software which is as bug free as possible which I’m sure we would all agree is one of the most crucial parts.
So what can we expect in terms of release tools? Well, to achieve maximum flexibility, the teams have decided to offer multiple tools which should appease all:
  • The Chronic Dev Team have added all jailbreak files into a GUI package that is both PC and Mac compatible. They hope that this tool will prove enough for the majority of users.
  • The iPhone Dev team will produce a command line interface which will offer the sae functionality. The CLI will allow a user to perform the entire jailbreak if necessary, the ultimate hope is that this tool will help with individual debugging cases. With over 20 options, the CLI will be extremely flexible.
  • The inevitable update to Redsn0w will come when all bugs have been worked out, but the command line interface tool will still be available. Redsn0w will also use native Apple libraries, offering a different approach to that of the Chronic Dev Team, again affording maximum flexibility for users.
They have also provided information pertaining to the supported firmware versions of the A5 jailbreak:
  • iPhone4S: 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406)
  • iPad2: 5.0.1 (9A405)
If you are an iPhone 4S owner who is ultimately looking to achieve a software based unlock, then the advise given is to remain on iOS 5.0 (9A334), with all other users updating to 5.0.1. If you are an iPhone 4S owner who has already updated to iOS 5.0.1, unfortunately it is too late to go back to 5.0, however, if you are on build number 9A406 it is possible to downgrade the baseband to that of 9A405 while the window remains open. Because the overall flow for this release has never been attempted before, MuscleNerd is warning of potential bugs or problems that cannot be predicted. The comments section on the official blog will be monitored and assistance provided when required.
It looks as though the ‘Dream Team’ combination has worked flawlessly, with the individual skill set of each member providing the key to a very prompt release. Because it was a combined effort, a group donation account has been set up for anyone who does wish to support their efforts. This will be fairly split amongst all members.
For those of you who are sporting A4 devices, you can follow our complete step by step guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, and iPod touch 3G/4G using Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze.

Bad News: Jailbreaking Your iPhone 4S Might Stop Siri

Just a quick heads up for iPhone 4S users who’re waiting eagerly for the iPhone 4S jailbreak which is supposed to be released very soon. According to the iPhone hacker Stefan Esser, better know as i0n1c, Apple’s voice assistant Siri stopped working on his iPhone 4S after running the unreleased jailbreak on it.
Stefan Esser claims that there might be jailbreak detection in Siri which will stop Siri from working on the device. Esser notes out on Twitter that “Siri stopped working after a day of running with jailbroken kernel on the iPhone 4S”. Strange, isn’t it?

Stefan Esser @i0n1c
Anyone seen any jailbreak detection in Siri? Siri stopped working after a day of running with jailbroken kernel on the iPhone 4S ...

As most of you know, the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (A5) untethered jailbreaking is making its way to the jailbreak community. We’ve seen a video showing iPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak and a photo showing iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1 jailbroken too.
The news from i0n1c seems to be bad news for iPhone 4S users but in my opinion, I think jailbreaking is not the reason why Siri stopped working. There may be something else which caused Siri to stop working. My advice now is that if iPhone 4S jailbreak is released, don’t rush doing it. Just wait for this issue to be confirmed. Stay tuned as we’ll get back to you once we know something new.

Save And Restore Your Web Session And Tabs In Safari Using SessionFiend For iPhone And iPad

The enthusiastic community which surrounds the jailbreaking scene is thriving, there can be no doubt about that fact. Even though the cat and mouse game with Apple is becoming more and more difficult with every iOS release, the evidence which points to the popularity of jailbreaking is there for all to see.

There are multiple reasons why people want to jailbreak their devices, which I won’t cover in its entirety in this post for the fear of detracting from the actual topic, but some of them include having the option of additional features, breaking Apple’s hold over your device as well as adding a tint of modification and extensive theming.
One of the benefits of owning a smartphone device is having the internet at your fingertips, and Apple’s iPhone and iPad does not disappoint when it comes to web browsing. The native mobile Safari browser offers a rich, engaging surfing experience. As you might expect, the mobile version is a significantly stripped down version of the desktop browser, but some of the key functionality is undoubtedly missing on iOS.
One of the major benefits of having a jailbroken device is the freedom it gives you to enhance existing applications by downloading tweaks and utilities released through the Cydia store. A new tweak, by developer Josh Kuglemann aims to dramatically enhance the user experience of the mobile Safari browser.
SessionFiend brings session management functionality to mobile Safari, by offering two core additions. SessionFiend allows you to save a group of tabs for reading and viewing at a later date along with the ability to open up a group of tabs at a given time. One of the features enjoyed by desktop users is being able to set a number of websites to open up in tabs when the browser is launched. Unfortunately this feature is generally stripped away for mobile versions, but SessionFiend has brought it back.

The tweak also integrates extremely well into Safari’s bookmark list, giving it a native look and feel. Options and sessions can be configured from the application’s bookmarks panel.
SessionFiend is available now at an introductory price of $1.00 (rising to $1.50) on the Big Boss repository. The tweak works on the iPhone and iPad, but is only compatible with iOS 5.
You will obviously need to have jailbroken device to run it. For jailbreaking iOS 5 untethered, follow our complete step by step instructions posted here to jailbreak iPhone, iPad, iPod touch on iOS 5.0.1 using Redsn0w.

iPhone 4S And iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak Progress, Unsigned Code Now Running On Device

Up until six days ago, it had been an amazing 517 days since legendary hacker, PlanetBeing, had last treated his fans to a tweet. He broke that silence on the 11th January with the revelation that, with the help of Cydia founder Jay Freeman, he had managed to escape the Apple Sandbox. For those who haven’t been following the long running A5 jailbreak saga, PlanetBeing was drafted in by developer Pod2g to be an integral member of the jailbreaking ‘Dream Team’.

If you are an iPhone 4s or iPad 2 owner then no doubt the recent news coming from the development teams involved with provide a modicum of comfort to you. The initial announcement that a potential bug had been found came in November 2011, which represents a nine week pursuit of liberation for both the A4 and A5 devices. within that nine week period, significant progress has been made, and although to some community members it may seen like an eternity, the truth is that the landmarks that have been reached in that time are quite impressive, considering that developer Pod2g was working alone for the most part.
Pod2g, and PlanetBeing have been releasing periodic updates over the last week or so, designed to keep the community in the loop about progress. as it currently stands, progress is being made slowly, but the people involved are making sure that everything is correct before even thinking about a release date.
The most recent update which has brightened up Twitter users timeline today has come from PlanetBeing. The announcement that he has finally managed to get his iPhone 4S to run unsigned code will no doubt bring hope to the community that the jailbreak release is drawing ever closer.
@planetbeing: Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!

Unfortunately, it would appear that too much shouldn’t be read into this, as his follow up tweet, which is  response to a very irate follower, says that there is still a lot of work to be done before any release is possible.
Whatever the current percentage of completion is, I would urge people to exercise some patience and appreciate that work is being undertaken everyday to get the jailbreak compatible with the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. I am pretty sure that the community would rather have a fully functional release, which satisfies all needs, rather than a rushed distribution which could cause more problems than it solves.
For all A4 devices, you can follow our complete step by step guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch using Redsn0w.

6 Jailbreak tweaks for your mobile Safari

Everyone like to use Safari web browser on his iPhone, but many users faced a lot of problems and some crashes on it like you can't make  a full screen while you are on a website, so today we would like to introduce for you six jailbreak tweaks you really need them if you are using mobile Safari web browser...

Now let's began introducing those perfect jailbreak tweaks for your iPhone:

FullScreen for Safari – $2.19This tweak allows you to enable full screen mode in Safari, along with OS X Lion like gestures for navigation. FullScreen for Safari is an extremely well thought out tweak, especially for those who lament over the iPhone’s 3.5″ screen.

Gridtab for Safari – $1.50If Apple’s tabbed browsing interface infuriates you, don’t worry; you’re not alone. GridTab for Safari places your tabs in more legible grids for easy identification.

Tab+ – FreeThis tweak lends you the ability to open more than 8 tabs at once. We’re not sure what the limit is, but we’re guessing you can keep going until your device runs out of memory.

Home Page in Safari – $0.99The premise here is simple, you can set a Home page in Safari. Why this still isn’t featured in iOS is anyone’s guess.

Safari Unibar – FreeA very interesting tweak that allows you to have a Google Chrome styled OmniBar to perform both searches and direct URL browsing using only one bar. The dedicated search bar is no more with Safari UniBar. To that we say good riddance.

Reset Safari – Free

The easiest way to kill all Safari activity. Clears history, cache, and closes all tabs. Perfect for resetting Safari when it inevitably starts running slow. Check out the video below for a more in-depth demonstration.
All of these tweaks can be found in Cydia store, and as you can see some of them is free and the other isn't, now I will leave you with this video review for the tweaks:
I know some of you may be outraged that I didn’t include Safari Download Manager. That’s an excellent tweak, that shouldn’t be overlooked. Ultimately, it doesn’t work in iOS 5, so I omitted it.
