BiteSMS Developers working on Beta 8.0 for iOS 7 Cydia

Most of you would be waiting for a new, updated MobileSubstrate version to release soon… But that’s for another day, as this post is about biteSMS. After the surprising jailbreak release by the evasi0n7 team, the developers of biteSMS are releasing a new version in the form of BiteSMS beta 80 release. It’s a work-in-progress and should be ready for the public in the next few days.

Here are some details on the biteSMS forums:

We have overcome Mobile Substrate not being ready, but are having some issues with 64 bit compilation. After about 10 hours we have finally got biteSMS compiled. But there are some runtime issues, which are much harder to fix.
Best guess is a few days to get this sorted. Rest assured, it’s taken us all by surprise, but we have been working on biteSMS on iOS 7 for many months now, it’s not 100%, but I’d say it’s ready for beta, about 85% there.

As a flashback, biteSMS has been one of the most popular jailbreak tweaks over 5 and half years ago. The tweak allows iPhone users to benefit from enhanced Messaging app features like scheduled messages, send quick messages and reply to quick messages. Now that Cydia has been updated for iOS 7 untethered jailbreaks, the tweak can be downloaded for free from the Cydia Store.
